Right, that's it - next summer it's over the border for me! Is there any way of finding out which autobahns are unrestricted? Don't want to drive a long way and then got stuck with speed limits.
BTW welcome!
Make sure you don't overdo it if you end up in France (at least not while the Gerndarmes are looking. Last year a Spanish guy got caught on the Bordeaux ring road (110kph around 70mph limit) doing 245kph in his Z06. He was a idiot. It was a busy bank holiday weekend and they chased him for more than 5 miles. He got 3 months jail, the 'vette got crushed.
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to introduce myself. I just bought a black 2001 C5 coupe. It just arrived here in Germany less than a week ago. I got my chance this past Sunday to drive it on the autobahn. I reached a top speed of 144 MPH before I ran into some light traffic. The car handles great, the acceleration is amazing. I had my wife in the car and punched it a couple of times. I wanted to show her G- forces. I get stopped everyday by the German gate guards asking me about the car. It really gets a lot of attention. The German Polizei pulled me over yesterday and gave me a warning ticket for not having a front license plate. The entire time they were checking out the car. Corvettes are rare here, and there is so much open road to drive the car like it was built to drive. I cannot wait till the spring and summer.
I enjoy this forum and I look to be an active part in the discussions
Lucky Dooooog to drive in AUTOBAHN. I wish I were there with my 04 Blck Vert.
Welcome to the Forum and the Corvette Family.
You know we all hate you of course for being in Germany on the Autobahns
Don't be a statistic...Germans have a bad tendancy of having 10-20
car pile-ups on the bahn so be fast and careful
