Hello everyone,
I just wanted to introduce myself. I just bought a black 2001 C5 coupe. It just arrived here in Germany less than a week ago. I got my chance this past Sunday to drive it on the autobahn. I reached a top speed of 144 MPH before I ran into some light traffic. The car handles great, the acceleration is amazing. I had my wife in the car and punched it a couple of times. I wanted to show her G- forces. I get stopped everyday by the German gate guards asking me about the car. It really gets a lot of attention. The German Polizei pulled me over yesterday and gave me a warning ticket for not having a front license plate. The entire time they were checking out the car. Corvettes are rare here, and there is so much open road to drive the car like it was built to drive. I cannot wait till the spring and summer.
I enjoy this forum and I look to be an active part in the discussions
Welcome to the forum, the center of the universe for Corvette owners and wanters. Congratulations on getting a real Autobahn automobile. I loved those roads when I was there on my 2 trips to Europe with the Army.
WELCOME!!! I sure wish I had my C5 when I was stationed in Berlin! Would have been great to get her out on the Autobahn and open her up!!! Just curious, how many Corvette's do you see in Germany?
The autobahn ......you lucky SOB. A military buddy of mine moved to Germany a couple years back and had his vette shipped over. He said he had to put a car cover on it everytime he parked it b/c of the amount of attention it got over there . Anyways congrats and welcome.
Hey congrats on driving the autobahn with your new vette and welcome to the forum. I only had an MG when I lived in Germany back in the 60's I did drive a porsche from time to time but I'll bet its nothing like our vettes.! Just be careful over there. German drivers tend to be a little agressive.
