I'm currently looking at a VERY nice '00 'vert. It has under 25,000 miles and the seller wants $30,000 for it. From what i've seen in pics, it looks well cared for.
Is there any specific reason NOT to get this car?
By 2000, were some of the issues with the early C5s cleaned up? Thanks for the help!
i was out shopping for new furniture with my girlfriend when we ran into a dead end and there was a chevy dealer there, she knew we were in trouble as ive had 36 cars and 5 harleys and she knows that dealerships are dangerous places for me. i had been thinking about buying another c5 convertible but had promised her new furniture first. any who, i just happened to ask the salesman about any used corvettes and he said i only have one magnetic red/oak convertible, a 2000 with 24,000 miles on it. i almost died as that was the exact car i was looking for. turns out the car belonged to an absoulute obsessive compulsive corvette guy, the car didnt have a scratch anywhere and he had had it serviced at that dealership where he had bought it new. car was only driven 5.700 miles a year. i looked at my girlfriend and she knew at that point that her almost new 2003 mustang convertible was toast. i may have paid a little on the high side for the car ($32,500) but its worth every penny. you cant go wrong with the 2000, i like it a lot better than my 97 coupe. good luck! greg

I think the seller is a little high. I purchased my 2000 Vert in Aug 2003 with 23,500 miles for $30k. You should be able to get a little better price from the seller. If not, and you are happy with the deal then go for it. You won't regret it.
If he will take $ 27k do it. Otherwise you can find one cheaper
My frined bought a 00 triple black convertible with 16k miles 6-speed, in August for $ 26,900

I think it is a litte high but if the car has been well maintained, it could be a good find. Offer lower and see what they say - they may want to move the car before year's end. The only real problems I have had with my '00 is differential seal leaks and I did have the oil consumption issue (but it was probably a rare occurrance in a '00). Good luck.
I checked on KBB.com, and the seller is pretty close to the car's retail value. I'll see how low he is willing to sell it for.
KBB is just a guide. It doesn account for things like winter when sports car sales are slow and prices drop.
Also, you want to be looking at buying the car for close to its trade in value, not retail value.
Hey no kidding you could get an 02 for this price, I think I would be looking elsewhere. I would not go by retail blue book, no one is getting that for their vette now. private party book is closer to actual value in my opinion.
