which one to get
now the cobra offers pure raw power. less than 2grand in mods and have 450+hp.
the cars are gonna cost about the same and insurance is gonna be about even on them. i plan on just keeping this as a weekend car and a nice day car, not a daily driver.
i know this is a vette forum, but i am asking for you honest opinion. i love the pure power out put of the cobra and i love the blower whine, but it doesn't have the handling, interior, or styling the vette has. the cobra i love the look of the 03's and the interior is alright. i am torn between the two. i like to kick it off on the street and play around, not really a track or autocross guy. so what do you guys think
i guess i just haven't found the right vette for me, so to speak.
Tire change will quiet that noise down also and better traction too. Alot of good buys to be had out there! Good luck in your search.

I've had both, but I don't even consider them in the same class of cars...
Good Luck,
Peace

Here's hoping you join the Vette fraternity. We like people that put some thought into what they want. That's what makes modding the cars so much fun and entertaining. Good luck with the search and let us know which way you go.

But more than that - Vette ownership is a lifestyle.
But those aren't the answers you're looking for....I think the Vette wins it on sytle points alone. Besides, to the untrained eye - a Cobra looks just like it's 6cyl sister! There are no weak sister Vettes!

Road noise may be caused by the run flats- many of us have changed to non- run 'craps', really makes a difference. Others have changed to other brands of run flats, and have found them to be better than the OEM (GY) run 'craps'.
As to which to buy - a Vette is a Vette, stands out a LOT more than a Rustang. Keep in mind that Ford builds 110,00 of the Mustangs per year. They all look alike.
On the other hand, the Vette is 'visable' - making it custom is easy, and you'll stand out from the crowd with minimal investment (or major investment if you go all out).
As to HP, my '99 with a 427 will, in most cases, outrun the Rustang even with their mods. You can get 450 BHP in the Rustang, mine has 519 RWHP!
Cobra - 390 HP, 3600 pounds
C5 - 350 HP, 3100 pounds
C5 Z06 - 405 HP, 3100 pounds
For the Cobra to achieve the same power-to-weight ratio as the C5, it would have to put out about 420 HP at the crank. For the Z06 C5, the Cobra would have to put out 470 HP at the crank. As you can see, power-to-weight ratio is everything when it comes to acceleration. At high speeds, say over 80 MPH, aerodynamics comes into play. The Corvette aerodynamics are much better than the Cobra.
(just can't stop
) #2 My mustang is for sale with no second thoughts at all.Do not get me wrong, the Mustang has been a great ride, and you can not beat it (IMHO) for the "bang for the buck". I thought the whole time, up to my Vette, that my Cobra (stock) would at least be close to keeping up with a Vette (never raced one, not my style). The Cobra seems fast to me, then entered the "Beast" as my wife calls it (the Vette of course). My wife (bless her little sole
) left me and my Mustang in the dust, on our way home with MY new Vette!! I was floored by the Vette's power range compared to the Mustang. The Corvette is just a different class of car. And speed is just one part of the that class. The one thing that I never liked about my Mustang was that you can not toss a rock without hitting 10 of them (half being driven by punk kids who do not know how to drive in the first place... the same kids who now want to race me in a school zone full of young kids!!
)I have had a few people over the last 5 years make nice comments about my Stang, but I have had more in the last 1 month with the Vette, it turns heads...
Just my take, but no matter what you do to a Mustang, it will still be just a Mustang... and a Vette will always be a Vette.
