I received the dreaded notice in the mail that my car needs the Smog Certification.with the Blackwing, cam and headers,i don't think I will pass the visual.I hate to remove all the mods as I don't have the old parts to reinstall.the guy I spoke to at the smog station yesterday stated to me he wouldn't pass my car visually with the headers and the Blackwing. With all the header systems on the market, you would think Lou would get them Smog approved.Sorry guys,I'm just p****d off at the whole California land of milk and crappy. :
What year is your car?? Gov Arnold just signed a law that cars 6 years or newer dont have to go for smog... are you sure your car doesnt fall under those new rules??

Does that mean any car 6 years or newer will NEVER need a smog check? If so that is great news. That was the only reason I was holding back on the exhaust.

Let me explain this another way. It used to be that a new car didnt require smog for 4 years... now it was extended to 6. Once you hit the 6 year mark, you will need to get it smog tested. Then every 2 years afterward. This is for CA only...

I called D.M.V.(Damn mean villins)I was told exactly what you wrote.you are 100% correct, darn it.
I had to have my '99 smogged a year or so ago - and I have a Vortex cold air intake which says "Breathless Perfromance" right on it.
It passed. Why? Because the guy's job was clearly to take $29.95 from as many people in a day as he could - not to be a stickler about things he knew little about. And of course it passed the emissions test - isn't that what it's all about anyway?
You should see what some of the Viper drivers do to their cars up here - do they pass? You bet, the guys "at the fillin' station" have usually never seen under the hood of a Viper and probably think that big chrome thing on the intake mainfold is a stock item. Much the same holds true for Corvettes.
Before I de-modded anything, I'd try a couple of places and find one that is in a hurry to take your $29.95...
well the 6 year thing is kind of true... If you buy the car "NEW" but if you buy it "UESD" even 1 year old.. you have to smog it..and every 2 years after that.... I just did mine...98 with the Black wing on...not a word was said, and it passed flying colors...
