I was coming off a stop light today, and when I hit third gear, I floored it, and the car seemed to be automatically shutting down, kind of a "computer" shutdown. Is this normal, and how do I correct this?
Sounds like how I'd describe traction control kicking in. Next time you notice this, quickly look down at the DIC and see if it says something like ACTIVE HANDLING or TRACTION CONTROL. I know it gives you a message, but been so long since I've seen it I can't remember exactly what it says.
With AH/TC on (default mode) the computer will cut power to reduce rear wheel spin. Feels like the car is shutting down on you.

I've had this happen while grabbing a gear at WOT. The wheels broke loose and the next thing I know the throtle just stops responding. It kind of freaked me out at first but then I realized that it was the TC.
Me too. I was thinking "How the hell has this car got a misfire with 4200 miles on the clock" but you just don't realise that the car is looking after you and traction is a precious commodity.
DO NOT turn T/C off. If you want to play/race, hold the button down for 10 secs (?) until Competitive Driving comes on. It will disable traction control but keep active handling enabled.
Comp. Driving mode will save you wallet (and you a$$) if you get the car out of shape running down the track (since no one is exceeding the posted limits on the street - right?).
No question is a dumb question, except maybe "Isn't it about time you audited my return?" or "Isn't it morally wrong to give me a warning when, in fact, I was speeding?"
But like the other guys say, it sounds like a classic case of traction control.

Probably says this in the owners manual, how do you turn it back on? Same 10 secs?

Just push the button again and it will cycle back through. Each time the car is start it defaults to Traction Control On.
Seems like someone made a bypass to set the default to comp mode or T/C off, but I can't seem to find it... Personally, for the street, Traction Control is just fine with me.

Especially on the interstate in the rain with the F1 Supercar tires! The tires are less than comfortable when there is any puddling of water, and the Active Handling/traction control saved my @ss!!! I just wish there was a quicker way to turn it on rather than waiting for 5 seconds. That's a long time to wait when a cobra pulls up next to you at a light and the cross street light's changing to yellow!
5 Seconds is a long time when you're ready to go!! That's why I bought the module to automatically put it in Competitive mode each time I crank it. Don't won't to miss an opportunity. If it starts raining hard, I just turn it back on!!!

Are you SURE you didn't hit the rev limiter? It is very easy to shoot the RPM's up when you get on it. I KNOW, I have hit it many times. It will act like the vehicle is misfiring. Good luck,
i was at a intersection a a truck was coming a me from the right trying to beat the light , i floored it to move out of his way and the dam active handleing come on and stalled the car midway . let me say that was scarey. he almost hit my rear and i almost went to jail cause i know i would have came out swinging

3rd gear rev limiter.... over 100mph. He sure wanted to get thru the red light fast.

Active Handling wont "stall" the car, you probably felt Traction Control kicking in, there is a difference.
