Help with AC

i read a post back a few weeks ago about helping the AC compressor last longer. Mine is "ticking" fairly loudly, but it still blows cold air. I have heard something about changing the oil and something else in the compressor to keep it alive....
does anyone know what im talkin about?

any help would be awsome

No. My Z28's compressor was sounding like a woodpecker so I pulled the relay. Now the engine doesn't sound like it's dying and I can put up with the increased temperature.

the only post I remember was one where someone was asking why the AC is on (in Auto mode) so much - someone answered that the lower temp was set in the 30s so the compressor would run more, keeping it lubricated even when it was not required to cool the car.
