Default FRC or Coupe

I need some opinions....I'm leaning towards getting an FRC, I like the look. Also I like the Coupe, the targa for this reason... What do you like about your C5's and do you have any regrets, wishing you had the other style.

I was looking into getting a FRC, but I had a 92 coupe before and missed being able to take the targa top off and enjoying the sunshine. This is what made me get my 02 coupe instead of the the FRC.

I've owned both a modded 99 MN6 coupe and now a modded 03 Z. The targa top on the 99 was nice and I took if off 4 maybe 5 times a year. So it wasn't a "must have" feature. On the other hand I like performance - total performance that is and after one drive in a stock Z I fell in love.

You need to drive both and figure out what's important. As other's have said once you start modding either car your comparing apples to oranges since no two cars will respond the same. The extra stiffness and lighter weight can't be easily duplicated in a coupe and is esaily felt by even a casual vette driver. Hell my wife noticed the difference from the passenger seat.

Good luck as there is no right or wrong answer to your question.

Tom

Well - judging by the fact that you live in a "Northern" climate, I would assume being able to remove the targa top is not that much of an attraction.

Personally, I have a convertible, and live in a place that I can drive the car with the top down about 90% of the time (which I do! ) I have NO regrets, I love my convertible.

If I were in your position, I might be inclined to go for the FRC/Z06 - but no one can answer that except you. And then, you've already said you like the lines of the FRC better anyway - seems like a no-brainer then!

If your going with the FRC>...get the Z06.....02 or newer. If you want the coupe...go for it....I like the option of removing the top when its nice. Burns my bald head alot....but thats the only drawback....well that and the F>R>C> club....(not yet a member).

Good Luck.....
see ya out there....keep smiling

I have had both, including an '01 Z06. I have been sticking with the FRC. I like the looks much better and you really do not see many of them driving around.

The other things I like about the FRC is that is noticably stiffer than the coupe.

The profile of the FRC looks better to me than the coupe, but I love taking the top off, so I went with the coupe.

Here was my dilemma: I got introduced to Vette up close and personal via a friend that has a 2002 Z06. So I started looking for a Z06 or a FRC because I loved the lines over the Coupe (I do not like convertibles).

My problem: I wanted a A4 so *beeeeep* that stops the idea of both the FRC and Z06 - both are manual only.

So I bought a Coupe and I have not regretted it for one minute!!

Buy what you like, is my humble advice.

I would only sacrafice not having the ability to take the top of the coupe if I got a 2002 or newer Z06(FRC).

Get what you like better theyre all vettes and they're all

After owning 2 C4's and counting the number of times I took the targa's off (not many), I realized the coupe (at least for that reason) was not a priority. With that and my preference of the FRC design, it was an easy decision for me.
