Some of you may recall my posting last summer on how my 2003 coupe was accidently covered with asphalt sealer by a fly-by-night contractor sealing my neighbours driveway. I ended up calling the cops and nearly got charged with assault. Well, the guy agreed to pay for the damage after the cops furnished me with his name and address. It cost me $428. to remove tha asphalt sealer from my car and that of my sons car. When I tried to get paid back for the damage, the culpret flew the coop. I tried for months to get hold of him, left messages and threatned legal action. Finally on November 16th I filed a claim against him in small claims court.
About two weeks after filing, his buddy calls me and wants to work out a deal. After a very brief discussion I told him that I expected to be paid in full for the accident. Well, on December 9th I got a cheque for $428.00 and it cleared yesterday. Looks as if this guy only responds when the law is involved. Wonder why?
Got my money back just in time for Christmas, (Wife of vette?).

..but what about compensation for pain and suffering....
I remember your post and was sickened. How did the clean up come out?
It took two applications of the solvent to remove the asphalt sealer. It turned out really well, can't complain about the detailing, just the long annoying process to get my money back.

Congrats on getting the rascal to pay. Should not have taken this much effort. Maybe you should report him to the BBB (if that will do any good). As far as the money goes - spend some on your wife, some on the car. Nice compromise.
