Default Tire pressure sensor question....

I took the Vette to get the new wheels mounted and they told me that my sensors were mounted to the valve stem....I thought the sensors were strapped to the wheel??? (something came up and never got the wheels mounted) Is this easier to swap over to the new wheel, or am I gonna have a problem???

The sensor and valvestem are one piece, On the factory wheels, the sensor itself is inside the wheel, the valvestem comes out the hole in the wheel, and all is secured with a nut on the outside of the wheel.

Depending on the wheel type you are switching to, you may or may not be able to use this mounting fashion.

Some aftermarket wheels will not allow this due to custom valvestem arrangements, and the common trick to get around that and still retain the sensors is to epoxy and band the sensors to the wheel barrell. It's not pretty, but it works.

I can offer more details on the alternate sensor mounting method if you need it...but what wheels are you going to?

C4 sensors were strapped to the wheels. C5's as already stated were part of the valve stem.

Im going with an after market C6 wheel from Corvettes of Houston. They are the C5 factory size. Do you think this will be a problem with the factory mounted sensors.....??? I guess I'll have to call them tommorrow and find out....

The sensors should fit those wheels. COH could tell you for sure, but I don't think you'll have a problem

There won't be an issue with those wheels and sensors. I know of a few people using them and they have swapped sensors to fit.

Just went back to their Ebay listing for these wheels and It clearly states Factory sensors will fit without ANY modification......So I guess I had my answer all along.......
