Default Trouble closing hatch ....

Hi,
My coupes hatch has always been a little tricky to close on the passeger side but with a bit more than a gentle push on that corner it would close ok. Recently it has been a lot more than a gentle push and it takes me several times to get it close all the way. Is there an adjustment that I should be looking at?
Thanks,
Bobby A

It's the 'airtight' cockpit not letting the air escape. Just leave the door open then close the hatch then close the door.

JUST OPEN THE DOOR AND YOU WILL NOT HAVE A PROBLEM OR CRACK A WINDOW.

Default Hatch

Hi again,
I have left ther door open and tried it. Whats happening is that the drivers side closes fine but the passenger side only closes halfway. It catches but it does not catch all the way. It always needed that extra push to lock it. Now it closes but not all the way. The interior light stays on. I have to get on that corner and give it a more than subtle push to get it to lock down. The reason I am puzzled is because it just got worse recently.
Thanks again,
Bobby A

This is a new one to me. Only thing I can recommend is to check with a body shop and see if there is some kind of adjustment that they can make to where the hatch will close easier. I always just sit mine down on the body and then give it a gentle push in the center and it latches. Good luck.

Check to see if the little black bumper thingie hasn't gotten moved up somehow (it screws in and out to adjust). Try to adjust it down a little and it may catch easier. Not too far though or it won't do its job.

I have always gently lowered mine until it makes contact, and then with both hands, press gently on each side at the same time, and right over each latch.
(If I recall, the owners manual suggested this also)

Now, before anyone vomit's..... it can be done without leaving greasy prints on the car

I think that there are two rubber stoppers on the hatch itself one on each corners, check to see if they are twisted in the same amount.

Mine shuts fine, but recently I've been getting the Hatch Ajar message and interior lights flickering. Was on the 1st date with the new girl I'm dating a couple of weeks ago and the interior lights started flickering. :o Talk about being embarrassed. Don't even remember the reason I made up to tell her why my Corvette had interior flickering lights. I'll try the rubber stops when I get home and see if that works. I don't get this every time I drive the car, just sometimes.

I used to be able to shut mine with the doors and windows closed by the center of hatch just over the emblem. For the past few months I have been unable to close it unless the door or window is open.

What's up with that?

Its not air...

...there is a rubber bumper on that side that needs to be screwed in to reduce the distance to close...

Been there...done that...

Just tell her that the Corvette lights were excited over her incredible beauty and charm, much as you were.
