Thanks!! I love the way the C5 hood looks, even though I'd love to get a carbon fiber one, I've yet to see a hood that in my eyes improves on what the factory did. Here in NY, the plates are required and cops constantly ticket for no plates. The C6 guys here always have to be looking over their shoulder. I wear my vanity plate with pride. She'll look even better from the front once she has her "sleepy eyes" installed someday.

I have saw a c5 and a c6 side by side to and the c6 looks much better the c5 takes on a bubble look and the interior is awful even compare to older corvettes. The c5 is to a c6 like a 84 is to a 96, WAY BETTER LOOKS AND PERFORMANCE WISE.

This post is amazing, so timely.

I live in a small town in Northern Cali. We have a BUNCH of C5s here but only one Chevy dealer and I’ve never seen a C6 up close and personal. I saw one yesterday, in passing.

I spotted “Corvette” immediately. It was black. As it headed toward me, I noticed the bling of the large wheels and thought they were aftermarket. As it passed, I saw the driver, a sharp looking business woman. I’m thinking C5 all the while. Then, in my rear view mirror, I spot the unmistakable C6 logo. Wow, my first C6 sighting, and I thought it was a C5.

I really think that the black color had a lot to do with it because I couldn’t distinguish the C6 grill.

My take.

I don't get this "The C5 rear end stops abruptly" when the C6 rear end stops in the same manner a few inches more abruptly and has a carbuncle on the top.

Or many C5 owners are in denial
I will be the rebel in this post, since I actually own both.
I have to say after owning the C6 for 6 weeks, I love this car. It is leaps and bounds above my 98.
I do get people straining their necks, and I cannot tell you how many people have taken pictures of it with their cell phones going down the road. I cannot take this car anywhere without gathering a crowd.
This car is so much better than my 98, I may sell the 98 because I am no longer interested in driving it.

I have posted this before, but will post it again
When I bought the 98, so many C4 people complained about the big rear end, and how much it looked like a Mazda, the C4 is so much better looking, GM really missed the mark, too many exagerrated curves.
Now the C6 comes out, and C4/C5 owners say - the rear is too small, not enough curves, and it looks like a Mazda.
Looks like a pattern to me.
2 minutes out of the dealership lot and I knew this car was an incredible improvement over my 98.
So, my experience has been the opposite of the original poster, with both cars in the driveway, people migrate to, and discuss the C6.

What I have found interesting is, I have been snubbed by every C4/C5 owner I come across. Not 1 will wave at me
If I am in the C5, I get plenty of waves... so what is up with that

Perhaps nobody waves at your C6 because it looks like a Mustang with a front body kit from Korea. I don't think anyone disputes the technology improvements in the C6, but it is true that the styling is an issue with a lot of people. My hope is some of the aftemarket body folks will get busy and de-mustang the sides, and recontour the whole car. The glass lines are OK, so I beleive the window frames can be left alone, and the skins only needing to be changed. Someone should do a Calloway-like body for the C6. I feel the re-bodied C5 by Calloway is one of the best looking cars in the world. I wish they made a front fascia that was compatable with the C5 sides and hood, replacing the pop-ups with large round lamps under contoured clear glass, in the same maner that their wider re-body job does. While I could never buy a C6 because I feel it is ungainly and slabby, I must admit that I don't feel the C5 is perfect, the front fascia is its weak point. None of the common aftermarket front fascia do it for me, but that darn Calloway, though not a 'replacement' retrofit parts kit, WOW it is really nice looking, AND aero as can be. Jennifer

hehe.. Set the way back machine to 1997. Insert same sentence but with C5 reference..
Simply not the case. I was there in 1996 during the introduction of the C5. It's looks were not "hated" - but there were comments about it being a "subdued" look. And that was from me as well.
I love my 2002 Coupe - but the C5 body style has never been my favorite - but its technical advances were the selling point for me.

you mean the C6 has a "Duck butt" ??

I think the C5 has better lines. Plus it has pop-ups.

I could've bought a C6 the day it was available, but since the C6 looks like somebody hit a C5 coupe with a sledgehammer, I decided to pass. I learnt my lesson with my previous cars and I will never EVER own a car that I don't like stylingwise and powerwise, period. The C5 was instant liking plus it has the power to back it up. I saw a C5 in 97 and I thought it was a Ferrari until I read the name in the back. I wanted one ever since, until 2002 when I bought my Z06.
The new C6 doesn't look like anything, heck, since the C6 is out, the C4 all the sudden doesn't look that bad and is starting to grow on me... go figure.

been there... done that... lesson learned.

I just love it when a salesman says "you'll get use to it". What he's really saying is "you'll learn to live with it". Not me... and not anymore. too much money being spent.
