About 3 weeks ago I got the recall in the mail from GM concerning the column lock on my '97. I sent them a copy of the receipt from Corvettes of Houston showing that I had purchased a bypass kit. They called today to say the case was reveiwed and they are sending me a check. I was so shocked I didn't think to ask how much the check was for, the receipt show that I paid $99.00 for the kit, I'll just wait and see, whatever it is for will be more than I expected.
Please post the address you sent the receipt to. Also any other info about how you went about this. Did G. M. follow up with any letter or anything ? Thanks...
I sent the receipt to the address listed on the recall notice, it said if the work had already been done you would be reimbursd for the cost of having it done. Did not get a follow up letter from GM yet, just got the phone call today. I had seen a post about this earlier this year on the forum and decided to give it a try when I received my recall notice, just didn't want the dealer fooling with my car.
I too have just recieved my recall notice from GM on my 97 M6. I already have the CLB installed so im not going to worry about taking my car to get the recall done. I only wish I would have kept my reciept from my CLB.
Funny. I talked to two different CS ladies at GM about my CLB and the first wanted me to take the car in to the dealer to have it inspected and make sure the CLB was "safe". She said I couldn't get reimbursement until I had that done.
The second lady called me to ask what I was going to do about the recall since I hadn't gone and had it done. I discussed the CLB with her as well and she said that no way would GM reimburse me for an aftermarket fix that was unauthorized.
Frankly, I don't give a crap what they think about the CLB because GM's "fix" stinks and is totally useless for MN6's. Plus, I only paid 50 bucks for my C5 Solutions CLB 3 years ago and it's a drop in the bucket for the peace of mind I've gotten from it. What I think really sux is the total inconsistency GM CS shows in dealing with problems. This is the second or third time I've heard of folks being reimbursed for their CLB's while mine was denied.

I got my " Sorry, you are out of luck, we are not paying for your CLB"
letter from GM today. I really did't expect them to reimburse me for
the COH CLB, I guess it was wishful thinking.....
The whole situation is
Not sure if it helped or not but I sent them a copy of the order form downloaded from the computer when I ordered the CLB and a copy of the invoice from when it was shipped.

It's great they are going to pay you. I got the recall done, but also installed the CLB. Don't really care if they reimburse me, but may give it a try. Who knows, as inconsistent as they are with their policies, I just might be able to get this through.
