Hey guys the seatbelt on my passanger side has jammed up on me. With a little jiggling (similar to other wrist actions...ha ha) I can get it out long enough to buckle someone in who has been getting to weight watchers regularly. When I had the car at a dealer last week they told me that there apparently was a recall on something in the seatbelt to prevent them from curling (which ironically my driver side already does). They told me that both would need to be completely replaced which after other recent work I don't even want to ask the cost. Does anyone know a temporary fix (or permanent if it exists) to alleviate the embarrassment I had last week of having to shimmy the thing to get a date buckled in? Or any similar advice to help me out?
I was under the impression that the seatbelts had some type of longer warranty? Like 100k perhaps? Just what I heard I would definately ask some different dealers.
My 1998 had a seat belt recall several years ago. Fixed at no charge!
Seat Belts are safety. If they don't want to fix it for free asked them to put that in writting and sign it so your next of kin knows who to sue should something happen!!!!!!!!
Good Luck!
Made an appt. for next Tuesday for the belts and to correct the new tire gauges. Guess what the gauges were apparently damdged when new tires were installed at a Firestone dealer. They told me to send them an invoice. Maybe they are going to help me out. If so, I'll give you the update on that as well.
If I remember correctly, the recall work involved slipping a little piece of plastic into the retractor so the belt wouldn't curl over. Pretty trivial thing.

My first C5 was a 99 and took it in for the recall. The dealer did the drivers side insert but not the passenger's side...but said they did. After several years of untwisting the passenger side and blaming my wife, I took it to another dealer who confimed the part was never put in. Way out of warrenty but fixed for no cost. Should never be a cost for a recall item....
