Default Need help in adjusting C5 conv. top.

Can anyone tell me how to adjust the conv. top on my C5. The driver side window top back corner is rubbing on the top and also noticed that the top does not sit as tight to the driver side deck panel behind the seat. Getting lots of wind noise and cold air. Help is welcomed.

Be careful when adjusting the top to fit tighter to the rear deck. You should adjust it so the rubber molding on the bottom rear of the top just makes enough contact with the rear deck to seal. If you make it any tighter, you will experience the top fabric rubbing away the paint on the rear deck. After it is adjusted, you should be able to insert a credit card between the top fabric and the rear deck at all points around the top.

To help seal the top to the rear deck better without paint rubbing, GM came out with a TSB for people having a problem with the paint rubbing. There is a replacement molding that is thicker than the original one. The thicker molding allows you to get a tight seal without the top fabric rubbing against the rear deck.

I believe that GM will replace the original molding with the thicker one at no charge if your car is still covered under the original factory warranty.

Since you have a 2000 Vette, you are not eligible for the free upgrade, but you could probably just buy the new molding and install it yourself.

I had mine replaced while the car was under warranty.

I have the same problem of rubbing right side (passenger side) for the visor area. But mine is still under warranty so I'm not going to do it by myself. However, does 04 Vert come with thicker molding or I need to request to have it changed/upgraded?
