Tire Temperature
I got one of those infared thermometers.
Outside air temp = 34'F
Tire temp in garage = 38'f
Tire temp driving to work arriving still in the dark (no sun load) = 65'f
I was very surprised to find that after driving about 1/2 hour at about 65mph on the Washington Beltway the temperature increased a bit more than 25'f.
That's quite an increase with little air temperature change.
I'm running Michilen ZP's with 34psi cold (I prefer the hard ride at the higher pressures).
You guys experience the same

Sounds about right. For every 10'F increase, tire pressure increases about 1 PSI, so you should see about 3 PSI increase based on your temps, which is what you would typically see.

I usually see a 2 - 4 psi increase between cold and warmed up tires, which would mean between 20 and 40 degree increase in temp

Never tried to measure the temperature of my tires. I usually only worry about the air pressure.

I'm not surprised at all. We use probe type tire pyrometers on the race car to aid with chassis setup. We have no trouble getting to >160F tire surface temperatures on a 40F morning on a road course...the tires start out at ambient (40F)...the cold air is working to cool them off (of course)...
