Go with a 99..that's what I bought...Why take a chance with an 01 since quite a few had oil burning issues...You can get a nice low mileage 99(save a bundle of cash as well). the extra cash can be used for some new wheels and other mods to the car!!

Default 01

id go with an 01 or newer
ls6 intake (350 vs 345 hp)
active handling standard on 01 and up (minus z06 they got it in 02)
thin spoke wheels
01 and up are virtually unchanged from model year other than colors

The three most important factors to consider when buying a used car are:
CONDITION
CONDITION
CONDITION

With that said, you just have to figure out how much you want to pay for the condition.

Hey Darth, you sure it's your buddy and not you?

There are plenty of good '99-'01 C5's waiting for you to look at them and finally buy one. I do understand caution, but you gotta make that big decision one day...

Go out and test drive as many as you can and get a feel for the car. Take one of the best ones you drive to a trusted mechanic and have it looked over.

Once you take the plunge, you'll wonder why you took so long. Trust me. Happy hunting!
