OMG!!! Thank goodness you are ok!!! 50-60 mph????!!! What explanation did that ahole give you for ramming into you? Was he on his cell phone, eating, shaving, having a complete mental fart??!!! I mean c'mon, he obviously wasn't paying attention to the road or else he would have seen all those cars come to a complete stop. The fact that you heard him brake hard at the last second proves that. In such a situation, I'd be scared that I'd kill that man. You've got a lot of self control to tell this story so calmly. Hopefully, the insurance for the damages to you and your vette will pay you enough to get a new C6. Good luck and I hope you recovery quickly.
Alex1217,
This cat did not give any good reason for hitting me...only that he was not paying attention. Could have been all of the things you have mention.
Thank you for your replies and well wishes...thank you!!! It was good that my daughter was not there CjLaw. Cannot even imagine if she was. Yeah Yellow Viking, the man has insurance. And let me just say this, that little "Gekco" will be doing a dance for me! This will be one of the best Merry Christmas I can ever have and that is being here to see it! Well, better start getting those plans together and turn my sights to that new animal on the block...the C6!
I'm glad your story ends well! It can sometimes happen with a sad ending as we all know too well. Take care and heal quickly and have a nice Christmas.
I work with a guy who has/had the Mag Red anniversary verte and almost the same thing happened to him. Unfortunately, when the car slammed into the back, it pushed it/him into the intersection, where he then got T-Boned in drivers door.
Paramedics almost literally cut the car to pieces to get him out. He only recalls waking up in the Emergency room in severe pain. He'll make a full recovery, but his 50th Anniversay vette will not.
Always a shame so see any car get hit by an idiot, but fortunately, the bones will heal and time will ease the loss of the car.
Glad to hear YOU are OK after what sounds like a very similar situation!
You said it all right there bro! Take care - stay with us on the Forum, and let us know how you are doing from time to time. I think I can speak for everyone else here that we will be looking forward to the news and pix of your new ride whenever that may be. You and your family have been blessed with a Merry Christmas instead of tragedy.
Forget the car, it was designed to go out of style in a few years anyway and was already obsolete. I'm just glad to know that you are OK. I hate to think what this Christmas would have been like for your daughter and the rest of your family had the worst happend.
Thank Jesus you are alive and well to talk about it.
That almost happened to my wife while she was driving the vette and i was 2 cars behind her. She came to a stop, and the full size van in front of me just kept going... fortunately he noticed and went into oncoming traffic to miss her and no one was hurt.
Hopefully your injuries are short term, and you can replace the car.
