[QUOTE=Red_Racer]How typical of some people to assume that if a Black man is driving a new
Vette, it must be stolen... That attitude makes me sick.
Get over it 'dude.' This Black man worked hard for my Corvette and I enjoy it and respect it every bit as much as any of you...[QUOTE]
I think the previous remark was more geared toward the fact that the car was probably stolen, not the fact that it happened to be a person of color driving. Be realistic, can you think of anyone that sinks as much as we do in OUR cars to run from the police. So that is why it must have been stolen. Plus his plate had already been ran. I know I can't think of any reason one of us would run from the cops. It's only a ticket. And Merry Christmas to all!

Uhhh - wrong!
"Around 4 p.m. a CHP officer pulled over a black 2004 Chevrolet Corvette driven by a man described as an African American male"
And as a "gentleman of colour" myself (as they used to refer to me as in days of yore) - I agree with Red Racer. I get pulled over for no apparent reason - and after a while it just becomes part of life in America. I expect my cruise to be interrupeted by flashing lights when I am driving at 15 miles an hour on Main street in the middle of the day.
This was NOT the case in England where I drove a heavily modded Mercedes Benz. I got stopped for speeding - but not for SUS.
Racial stereotyping sucks - but that's just American life.

I did not have any intention to reflect race in that statement. Bob

You're right in that making that assumption would be totally wrong.
But I don't think he was being racial about this. If the car was pulled over and the officer had time to run the plates - the true owner would be obvious. Furthermore, having the plate numbers alone would be reason enough for an owner NOT to try to flee because he could be found out anyway whereas a thief would want to try to get away when it became clear he didn't own the car.

Finally... a voice of sanity.
I realize this is a "hot button" for many individuals, but reread the statement after cooling off, and I think you will see there was no malicious intent.
