I love my HUD...my wife HATES it and turns it off every time. There was a time when I was looking for a Nassau Blue C5 and found a 98 that was Nassau Blue Tan/Tan 6 speed loaded low miles etc...but I could not bring myself to buy it because it had no HUD. It is in my top 5 features. It is another reson I won't get an 01 Z06

I had HUD on my '98 Grand Prix GTP, my '02 Grand Prix 40th Anniv Edition and now my '04 CE coupe. When looking for the Corvette it was a "must have"!! It is such a great driving aid!!

I guess I'll be the lone voice here against the HUD. I love my polarized sunglasses and the HUD is invisible to me. When I drive with different glasses or at night, the HUD is 1) distracting and 2) difficult to read in digital form. If it were in analog gauge form I'd give it another chance. But honestly, it takes me longer to focus my eyes on the HUD and back again on the road than it does for me to look at the guages and back to the road again. And anything other than speed readings are useless. They should have put idiots lights there, like a red flashing OIL when pressure is too low or COOLANT if temp is too high. Otherwise blue/green bar graphs are just hard to read. Have I mentioned the impossiblity of cleaning that HUD screen area.
Who wants mine?

Corvettes & Cadillacs have always been leaders in new technology and I won't buy another of either without HUD if it is avaialble.

FYI, If any of the gauges go to a non-normal state, ie: coolant temp too hot, no oil pressure, etc or any error msg appears on the DIC...there is a "check gauges" message that illuminates on the HUD display, so although not red, it does have an idiot light feature.

That's not good enough. We drive cars capable of close to 200mph and we get Pinto style idiot lights in green. I get CHECK GAUGES when my gas is low. One is urgent and another is a courtesy. Yet the HUD treats it the same. A better system would enlarge the image of the failing system and display in red OIL LOW, etc. I believe GM had a good idea but fell prey to the gimicky aspects of the present form. Smaller steps on the bar graph would be good. Dial indicators have always been found to give quicker ref. than digital or graphic displays. Racers know this why does'nt GM. Poor colors and poor layout IMO.
