Yep i did the dumb thing. As i was getting out of the car from my casino trip today i managed to lock my keys in my car. Normally this wouldn't be possible thanks to the remote entry passive thingymabobber, but the battery on that day yesterday.....yes a
wonderful turn of events indeed.
And can anyone guess what was on the list of things to do on Monday??? Yep go get a spare made. So here i sit in my living room wondering if there is a way to go about getting into my car without paying $70 to some monkey with a slim jim to open my car....i'm not to keen on that ideal.
Would it be possible to get a new remote entry thing or what.....I figured i should atleast ask you guys first before i went and did anything else to dumb today lol.
Anyway any help would be appreciated.......and Merry Xmas Everyone
Well, your in Cali....It is safe to crawl through the open roof to get the keys.
When i locked my keys in the car in Kentucky Bowlingreen AT the Factory, an engineer came out with what looked a lot like a radio antenna. He slipped that in between the window and the weather stripping and hit the unlock key. He did it very quickly and easily. Hope this helps!
The dealership I bought my car from gave me one of those plastic keys that you can keep in your wallet. It is good for a couple entries to your car but will not start the car since it does not have the pellet. I believe AAA also provides these to members.
This doesn't solve your current problem but might be an option for the future.
Take your VIN to the dealer and have them make you a spare key. Proof of ownership may (and should be) required...hopefully you've had it in for service before...should cost you about $50, but you were counting on paying for the spare anyway...they always cut them from VIN, so there's no additional cost b/c you locked yourself out...just have to use the beater until then

Why go thru all that? Your car has no door frame ... hense, you can just push the rubber seal out of the way, slip a coat hanger in and oush unlock. Less that 1 minute, you're in. Don't ask me how I know ... let's just say I tried out this method about 4 days ago :o

Well i got my keys out of the car......its kinda scary how easy it is to break into an FRC. Took me a good 20 seconds and that was it
But then again i'm not going to complain either because now i have my keys

I always keep a spare key with me just in case. Means I have more keys in my pocket than I know what to do with, and I have yet to lock the keys in the car, but if I do I'm prepared.

Did you leave them in the ignitian? I've heard that if you rock the car in the rear quarter panel it'll unlock the car. Never tried it yet though I've been meaning to. I have a spare set so I can do that. Glad you got it open though.
When I want to open a vehicle with a clothes hanger,I always use a wide blade plaster spatula.I place this between the glass and the rubber. That way,the slothes hanger rides on the spatula and doesn't rip the rubber. On a vette it works great.
While in the car I hit the trunk release to retrive my jacket. Got out with keys in hand, opened the trunk and got my jacket. But instead of putting the keys in my pocket, I had set them on the floor of the trunk while I put my jacket on. Then as the trunk lid shut, I remembered that I had set the keys down....
$60 later and a visit from a local locksmith, he had it opened in 30 seconds. He wedged a shim between the glass and with a curved rod, he hit something inside the door and it unlocked the door. The alarm went crazy until I reached all the way back into the trunk to get the keys to turn it off.
Glad my insurance covers $50 towards lock out...
