There is a product called "flitz". I have been using it for a while. You may have seen there infomercials recently. I have had good kuck with it, You should get your self a soft buffing wheel and attack it to your drill. It takes alot of elbow greese and you have to repeat it several times over the coarse of a few weeks, then maintain it. But it will get you as close as your gonna get
To have it done right, have the tires removed, take the wheels to an aluminum polishing shop and have them polished to an 8 micro-inch (mirror) finish. Then, bring them to an anodizing shop and have them clear-coated. Yes, this is a pain and will cost at least $50-$100 per wheel, but the results will be fantastic.
Is there any info that anyoone has on how to get you polished rims back to looking like new? I realy don't want to replace them just yet.
This is the problem with clear coated wheels.. they deteriorate over time.. so they will never be as nice as the first day you got them..the clear coat gets dull, sometimes turns yellow, it gets hit with stones and start to attack the metal in the wheel if you try to polish it out , you run the risk of rubbing through the clear coat then the aluminum underneiith starts to oxidize... The the only cure is stripping , polishing , and re clearcoating, this could cost over 500 dollars to do.. I almost bought those beautiful SSR-gt wheels, until I found out that they where spun cast and worse than that, they were clear coated..
The polished wheels have a clear coat on them, try a strait clear coat wax for wheels and if that does'nt bring um out you'll have to buff the clear coat off (hard work) and then polish the wheels and if you do'nt have the clear coat put back on you will have to maintain them by polishing at least byweekly but its not too hard maintaing them.

Wow, that's alot of $$$$. How much do you think it would cost to strip them and chrome them? If you're going to spend $500 bucks, you might as well spend a bit more to get something even better.

I haven't had anything chromed for quite a while now, but this place has a pretty good exchange service for chromed wheels - see http://thepolishingshop.com/exchange.htm
I agree that chrome is much harder and hence, more more durable than clear coat. I may eventually call this place for pricing, as it seems like a great way to go.
