I'd love to have both... I have an '87 Toyota 4x4 5-spd truck as my beater... driving to work the past few days have been almost as much fun as driving the vette.

It's just a blast to do donuts and go off-roading for no reason in the snow, was almost late to work

Will you be able to see a caravan of vettes pass you by in your WRX and be able to hold back the tears? A couple of months of downtime is not a big deal compared to a lifetime of joy that vette will bring you. Now if you can get both, that would be ideal.

I wouldn't even consider it.

Well, it's obvious that you have another car for DD, so just trade it in on the Suburu...

Do you really think that 12 months enjoyment of the Sub will be as good as 6-8 month enjoyment of a C5? If so...get it.

But for me...there's no way.

If you're that worried about it, just drive your C5 in the winter...many people do it. Put some M/S tires on it for the winter and you'll be fine...

Don't tell is it's too nice to do that to...cause that's what you're going to do if you replace it...

I agree with previous posts:

Use the WRX as a beater

What you said here makes no sense. I live in CT and work in RI - in Providence. I drive to work every day with my Vette year round as long as there is no snow/ice/salt/sand on the roads. These are the ONLY bad days that I drive my beater.

You PARK your vette for 5-6 months???????? It's not a holy relic - it's a car!!!

I drove my Vette on Saturday - 2 days ago - Christmas day - all over CT - um.. December 25th - the middle of winter...

So lesson for today :

1> THIS is a Ricer Daily Driver for bad days (see above for description of bad days). It is affectionately known as "The Beater"

2> THIS is a Vette that does not melt in rain and can be washed, Zaino'ed and detailed. It is affectionately known as "Inferno"

...and BTW, this was a joke

The Suba would be fine as a second car, but i gotta tell you, it aint no Vette. You might be well served by picking up a used front drive VW or a used Suba AWD, these can be purchased for about the same as as nice set of Vette wheels and tires. Cheap, and great to protect the Vette
