So is the blackwing THAT much better than a Z06 box, or zip tie mod, or cutting a bunch of holes in the stock box?

The stock exhaust i.e. catback is not that restrictive... most mod for sound... the factory air box is a bottle neck... so the BW is a plus in getting more air in....as for a tune it would help but I don't think it is a must have... I've never heard of a BW leaning out a car to the point of risk to the motor...but even a stock motor will benefit from a tune...

Blackwing for me. It was my first mod. The car came with Corsa's and and stock factory airbox with no opening (GM didn't open the airbox until later model years) The blackwing was an immediate SOTP change for my car. I looked at the alternatives and the Blackwing for me was far and away the best choice. I wasn't interested in the "ziptie" method and I felt the Z06 airbox would have only been an interim step. I had my heart set on the Blackwing and thats what I did.
