I've been trying like crazy to resist this urge but I think I'm losing the battle. So, it's time to get serious and find out what I can do and for how much to take my totally stock 04 up another 50hp. I've read individual threads about air boxes, catbacks, headers etc. but I don't think I've read a specific thread about what it would take to accomplish something like the above mentioned hp increase, and approximately how much it might cost assuming I do no work myself - mechanically challenged.
A couple of provisos, I don't want to void much warranty if I can help it, and here in Ohio we have tailpipe EPA testing so after any mod work it would still have to pass like it will now. Last, I need somebody in the Northeastern Ohio area that I can trust to do the work.
Man, I know I shouldn't start down this road, but.................
To get 50rwhp increase I've been lead to believe gonna have to go a little further than bolt-ons; headers, cat-back, intake & dyno tune will probably get you real close to 50 but most likely not there. I've been told heads/cam only way to get LS1 to 350rwhp. As for Northeast ohio, just ran across this place: Hutter Performance Center which was mentioned by Al from StainlessWorks (header mfg.); I have heard good things about a few other places around here, PM/e-mail me and I'll forward them on to you.
For other NorthEast ohio info, post/check in Events and Regional...Great Lakes forum.

Vararam - $350 (best hp gain out of intake choices)
LT headers w/ cats - $1250-1750 (price depends on what you buy. LGM's are popular but very expensive. Similar gains will be found with dynatechs, kooks, FLP's for $400 less)
Cat back exhaust - $900-1100
A good dyno tune is definitely necessary as well in order to get you the best gains. I think 50rwhp is difficult to achieve but possible. Installtion should run you another $500-600, so you are probably looking at a total cost of around $3500 including the tune.
Do you a 6spd or auto? No first had experience... but if your running an auto ...I have seen quite a few posts that say rear gears and a higher stall TQ converter will give the feel of 50+ hp and you won't have to crack the motor or worry about emissions...
I agree, who gives a rats @ss what the dyno says, HOW DOES IT DRIVE...........a gear swap will give you an instant rocket ship.
Only problem is w/ the auto tranny and if you do a lot of freeway driving. I'd love to put 4.10's in mine but I cruise on the freeways here in So. Cal at 75mph or so for long periods. I think I would be turning over too many rpm's and gas mileage would suffer. I wish we had a 6 speed auto!
What would be a decent ratio for auto trans that makes sense?
