Either way, those Mustangs can be quick in a straight line, but they still can't get out of their own way in the turns and brake for stink. I had a mildly modified 2003 Cobra before I got my Z06, and I don't miss the mustang one bit.
Holy poop, my neighbors kid has a gt mustang its supercharged rhwp@520, he gave me a ride yesterday, i think i better get over to ECS
Had the the pleasure of meeting Chris from ECS at an annual " Vette and Mustang " meet Upstate N.Y. in October. Real down to earth guy ! Wouldnt hesitate an instant to have him " perk " the Z up !!
my friend has a cobra with a whipple supercharger, and other basic bolt-ons
on his 110 octane program for the track, he dynoed at 650rwhp......he would slaughter me at the drag strip, but the car handles like ****, and i still wouldn't take it over a z06 for every day driving, overall performance, quality, and class
Heard about ECS on this forum, outskirts of Jackson NJ, they dynoed my car the same day i called, real nice guys
Guess you are in my back yard! Buy any chance are you the 3rd Z16 on Ocean County. Mine and the other one hooked up and our cars have been lets say are no longer stock!. In either case, good choice on the ZO6. Oh! forget the Mustang, he can't stay on the ground. The power to weight ratio and his front to rear distribution are an abortion. He will still be trying to find traction while you just whole shot to Delaware. Or just loose him in a turn because he has to slow down while your powering up in the turn.
Hey Good Luck and see you at the Saw Mill
I think its funny everyone says the Mustang handles like "sh*t". No one would argue it handles like a Z06, but unless your commute consists primarily of winding mountain or country roads where you can safely do 40+mph over the posted limit... what is so important about maximum handling capability? And please don't say "accident avoidance" b/c a Mustang handles well enough to keep a good driver safe.
If you road race the car, that's a no-brainer... it would take a lot of mods for a Mustang to be comparable, and by then it wouldn't be something you'd want to drive every day.
While I thoroughly enjoy going around corners quickly, I can't say I often exceed .95g lateral, and don't have enough opportunities to encounter high-speed switchbacks that having a car that outhandles another makes a big difference.
If you get beat in a straight line, saying "my car handles better" is lame, IMHO. If you don't want to race in a straight line, that's no problem. Don't. Excuses for losing are just that....

I thoroughly enjoy both drag racing and road racing. I'll be the first to admit that Cobras are quick in a straight line and deserve some respect.
However, after experiencing the violent wheelhop in the cars, the total lack of quality control, ergonomics similar to a Ford 8N tractor, and brakes no better than on my 1 ton pick up, I can also say the Corvette is worlds ahead of the Stang in terms of value, even at the higher price.
Having road raced and auto-x'd both cars, there really is no comparison. The Mustang left me cold and I bought the Vette because I wanted a car that was capable of holding it's own not only in a straight line, but in the turns as well.
Yeah, handling might not be super important to people who drive their cars back and forth to work, but it must mean something, otherwise you yourself wouldn't have bought the Corvette.
hmmm 4 seat Pony Car = Oranges
2 seat Sports Car = Apples
Trying to compare the 2 just doesn't work--both drive 'differently'. I own both and enjoy both...........each provides a totally different driving experience.
