I'm still messing with the dealer and my cars unexplained urge to drift to the right on any surface.. flat parking lot, right side of the road or left side of the road. I just wanna check their specs before I move onto other possibilities.
If the Dealer, or his subcontractor has old equipment, no matter how much your argue with them, they will never give you a good alignment. If you can, get your money back and find the newest tire company in town (brand new is the best). Within the last few years the latest alignment equipment is self calibrating and diagnosing. So most "new" places do a very good job, if the operator has training . My dealer did an alignment after some warranty work. The next day I drove 30 miles and had my favorite Tire Kingdom store realign and guess what. The right front was out by 2 degrees and the toe in on both rears was way out. I have gone to this particular tire store for years and never had any alignment problems on any of my cars. I think bad alignment on my OEM GY's on the rear caused them to wear out on the outside edge prematurely. I got one of those 5 year contracts that give me unlimited alignments for 5 years.
I think the equipment my store uses is John Beam
By the way the best balancing ever done was by an Mercedes Benz dealer who had a computerized German balancing machine. There was no vibration up and over 100 mph. It cost me $20 per wheel but it was worth it.
thanks, yea those good ole germans.. I knew my personal VW mechanic by his first name when I was stationed over there. I'll never forget Deter.. that guy would call me and tell me I needed an oil change or some kind of service. They really took pride in what they produced. hell and all I had was a VW Jetta when I was stationed there.
