Painting calipers
I'm painting mine with the brush style kit. Any trick to working around the letters? Just paint over them?

Just paint around them........................... if anything should get on them, wipe it off or sand if off with fine sand paper.

Easiest if you don't worry about it and use very fine sandpaper and sand off excess.

I painted over them, then carefully used a razor blade to remove the paint.Using 1000 grit paper on a block will give them the "Brushed" look.

Or, you could do what I did. Since the letters are raised, after you paint the calipers, it's very easy to paint the letters a contrasting color.

I heard someone put Vaseline on them to help removing the paint easier.

Ah, the old vasoline trick.
This works well for spray on, but DO NOT do it if you are brushing on the paint. You will smear and push the vasoline in areas you don't want it, and will end up doing a lot of touch up, after the fact.

Just wiping them worked pretty well, but still a little bit smeared on them. Think I'll go back over with some sandpaper once the paint drys all the way. Thanks all.

I had mine done at a dealership and they painted over them and then took a grinder and took the paint off the letters.

That would have been too easy.

I painted over letters. Then took my dremel and buffed them.

Just paint over them and sand them with a small flat block after the paint dries well LT

Brush painted mine while on the car. A couple/three coats and then used a silver paint marker to highlight the letters. Have not had any probs at all.

When I did my 99 some years ago I bought the Folia-Tec paint kit. Based on tips I found here on the CF I just painted over them, then used an Exacto knife to scrape off the paint and used a very fine file to smooth out the surface of the letters. They looked like the factory did it. Here a photo of my 99 hand painted by me and my 03 Z powder coated by the factory.
99 hand painted and detailed with Folia-Tec caliper paint
03 Z (I had just painted the little bracket GM and others never seem to paint) laeving an unfinished look IMHO
