MaximumHP, it's too difficult to have a FAQ for performance parts since performance parts continually evolve faster than anyone can possibly update a FAQ. The only thing that could really go into a FAQ is information that doesn't change often. The best sources are the Tech Info & Tips areas of this site and Z06Vettes, Crossflags, DigitalCorvettes and CorvetteActionCenter. I like to think my thread is useful as well, but even I don't care to go into how to fix problems. At most I'll acknowledge that problems exist and I'll post a link to more information. I doubt I'll ever post performance information, but I would post part geometries, weights, flow #'s and other information like that. HP #'s mean very little when lots of information is left out, and that information is rarely posted on these forums. Those questions do seem dumb, especially when the same question is usually being addressed a few threads down, but they simply have to keep coming because things keep changing. One example is about heads. The 5.3 head is becoming very popular. Some people say it has more potential than any LS1 or LS6 head. It may be because it has dual quench pads, or because the intake port flows very well, but time will ultimately tell.
One thing that could really be done is to have our moderators lock down cross-threads and thread that ask about a topic that's already being covered. Even that won't work very well. LS1Tech has some hardcore moderators, but topics still get repeated often with slight variations.
If you guys are really serious about starting such a resource, the easiest way would be a web site - not a forum like this, but a regular web site. With everyone's input, I'm sure it can quickly become one of the best C5 Corvette web sites on the 'net.
It'd be great if it was like Wikipedia for Corvette's. It's basically a shared website where anyone can submit changes, and eventually the changes are baselined, analyzed, more changes made, and then put into production.
I'm a Technical Writer and am willing to help on some items while I'm not traveling.
I take it it would be stock information perhaps with some modules on how to MOD?
I use Word, but will need drawings, pics, dimensions, measurements, etc.
