Yeah I think that was last years, this year does not start till the 26th I think, I would have thought the sledge would have gone for way more.
Yup, what you saw on SPEED last night was last year's auction. I remember watching the same show and seeing the Calloways all go to the same guy. I guess SPEED is re-running it to build excitement for this year's show. I've been seeing the "teasers" hyping the expanded coverage at the end of the month.
Must be great to have such a deep pocket!
Keep in mind many of the multi car buyers are actually buyers for large companies such as pro-team, corvette Mike, etc. Yes, they get the wow look what he just bought but they just turn and remarket these cars. Some of this does come with some good perks. Who would mind a constant revolving stable of some of the best vettes money can buy. As far as going to see this in person, just like sporting events you can watch it on TV or be part of the action. If you are a car nut, ( like anything auto related cool, old , etc) this is a once in a lifetime must go event. Not for everyone year after year, but I have taken non car people and all they can do is say WOW. See you @ BJ 2005!

Love to see all the cars. I have an option of going this year on someone elses dime....not sure I want to take a whole week of vacation to do it. Bet it would be a blast

Lets see, hang out at the Meguires rig for some hob *** with some of the real players with deep pockets. Maybe see some behind the scenes taping of car crazy. Not spending any mod $$ to go. Did I mention its 70 deg in Arizona in january. Maybe will see you there Jim.

I blew most of the afternoon yesterday watching the auction before I realized it was last year's event. Saw several nice mid-'60s vettes go for big money and a '64 Convertible GTO go for $61K. An early 2004 GTO struggled to reach the sticker (with ADM). An early message for the General there.
I watched many hours of it yesterday....just fascinating stuff !
...oh, to have that type of $$$
The Hemi's were cool, and so was that gorgeous 53 vette...dont care for the heavily modded stuff, only original for me.
Did you guys see Nomar Garciapara's wedding vette to Mia Hamm? It was a 59 (if I remember correctly) Pretty car, but it had a ghetto sound system and some unidentified chevy powerplant. Of course those idiots had to sign the visors like anyone gives a crap...
I went to Scottsdale last year. It rained for most of the time or was cloudy and unuseually chilly. Just my luck. The auction was unreal and worth not haveing the 70 degree sunny weather. There are more people with money then brains at Scottsdale. The prices at Scottsdale don't reflect the true market. But then again if I had unlimited funds and really wanted a specific car I quess I would over spend to get it also.
This year I'm going to Barret/Jackson in West Palm Beach at the end of March. I know it isn't as big but would like to see it anyway.
but with Speed rerunning the show yesterday, it really confused my wife as she was planning on letting me go this year for my birthday had to explain to her that the B/J isn't for a few more weeks and there's still time
