Check Engine light how to chk codes?
Check engine light came on today 2001 coupe, is there away to check codes using a paperclip to computer plug in like C-4s? How do I find out what this is in reference to, all gauges read okay. Thanks.

It might be just a loose gas cap.

The code or codes that set off the check engine light will have a C after it which indicates current, His for History

Just checked the codes and came up with the following 10PCM 1 code#PO128C. Checked the attached thread and that code was'nt listed, anyone have any idea what this may be before I make an appointment with the dealer? Could stabile in the gas have anything to do with this? Thanks again grreat web-site.

Just did a search on the forum and came about the code you indicate and it says:
PO128-ENGINE COOLANT BELOW REGULATED TEMP

"if engine coolant fails to reach a preset target temp. before a calculated air flow is accumulated DTC P0128 is set"
Conditions for setting DTC
The calibrated amount of the engine runtime as been met
The calibrated amount of engine air flow has been met
The calibrated minimum engine coolant temp. of 75C (167F) has not been met.
In other words, your coolant temp is too low.
Have you recently intsalled an aftermarket thermostat?

No changes other than smooth air bridge coupler thats it, previous owner did coolant by-pass for throttle body could that have done it? I have only had the car a few months no problems under 10,000 miles had it out on cooler days other than today. About three weeks ago had the car into the dealer for the column lock recall where they flashed the computer but have used the car since then with no problems. The check engine light came on after the car was up to temp and had been run about 8 miles.
