Default I wonder....

Ok, so today to wife and I were a bit stir crazy at home, so we decided to head downtown to the mall, just to get out of the house. Well she went into Dillard’s, I walked over to Barns and Noble to check out what vette magazines that had that I haven’t looked threw yet. Disappointed there was nothing new for me, I picked up a copy of the Dupont Registry and flipped threw the pages to see what is out there. As I looked threw the pages, I started to notice the unbelievable number of Vipers and Saleen Mustangs that were for sell. Yet, I saw maybe 2 or 3 Z06's for sale, and a few C6's. Now my question is this. Is this a sign that the vette just doesn't hold the "value" of what the others out there have... Like the limited number of Vipers and Saleens? Or is it the fact the people just realize what a beautiful and wonderful car that they have, that they just don't want to get rid of it. Me, being the vette lover that I am... I am going with the second. Anyhow... what do the rest of you think???

I think that there are just a whole lot more Corvettes than Vipers and Saleens manufactured.

I think the Vette holds its value as well or better than most American cars but the fact that it is mass produced has a lot to do with it. I know that if I want a used C5 I can pick up the paper or AutoTrader and have many to choose from. If I want to buy a Viper local, other than the rare occasion, I am S.O.L. I don't know for sure but I bet Chevy sells 100 Vettes to every Viper. Now the Saleen, I haven't figured out why somebody would pay that much for a Mustang with bolt ons.

It may be that Corvette owners are more satisfied with our cars than others. I think that buying a Vette is like having a piece of American history. If you read about the history of the car, you'll understand what a special car it is and what a great reputation it has worldwide.

I think most of you guys are missing the real point.

The Dupont Registry likes to list primarily cars that meet "their" definition of exotic cars. Usually for them that means:

1. Foreign
2. Limited production.
3. MSRP near or above $100K

I don't think they really hate Corvettes, but that is just not their target market.

Like someone said earlier, the Corvette is a more common car. The Auto Trader is full of Vettes but not so many exotics!

There are a lot more Vettes out there than the Vipers or Saleens, but I believe many people will hang on to their Vettes longer. Maybe people are just getting tired of the Vipers/Saleens and trying to sell them before they too go down.

That is just nuts. And from what I have heard.. It is cheeper to buy the parts yourself and do it.

Saleens, Callaways, etc. sell because the whole package can be financed. Parts to build a dealer special cannot be bought on 60 month terms.

I can understand the Mustang/Camaro dealer specials better than I can Vipers, but then again lots of Vette owners modify their Vettes more towards drag race cars too.

I think guys who buy and sell Vettes know better places to advertise than the DuPont Registry. Zuti
