Default Possible newb to c5 with ???

Hi guys-

I have the chance to jump on a very low milage 98 (11K miles) the guy is asking $24 (I am sure I can get him down)

Anyway, can you buy an extended warranty on a 98 Vette? and is this one of the years that had the oil consumption issue...I thought for some reason this was an M6 issue more then an A4 one.

Also, where are the RPO codes listed on C5's so I can note its options....

Thanks guys!

Offer him blue book value... it is a lot less than 24K and is what the actual value of the car is. 98' is a great year! Of all the people I've met with Vettes about 50% drove 98s and didn't have a complaint

You can probably get one a little newer for that price. I bought a 2000 with 7500 miles on it in april 2004 for $26000. Just keep looking and I'm sure your find a nice clean one for yourself. Good Luck!!!!

Private party value on a 98 with typical options, 11,000 miles and in excellent shape is $21,425.

To my knowledge, the oil consumption problem occurred with the ZO6s. I bought me '98 MN6 new and have never had an oil-related issue.

The RPO sticker for the car should be affixed to the left-hand storage bin cover at the rear of the car.

Per what Red_Racer said above, $21k for low-mile '98, IMHO, is a steal.

You'll the RPO and build codes on the underside of the left storage well cover in the trunk.

I love my 98 Coupe. I have around 58,000 miles on it with very little consumption of oil. Hope this helps.

I do not think that Warranty Direct will cover a '98 anymore. You could call and check. 1Source may, but it will probably be reduced coverage and at a high price. For $24K, you should be able to get into a '00 which would have more options to choose from.

A bit on the high side of price I think, but if you really like the car go for it. Shopping for the perfect ride can be tedious at best. Good luck !

97 and 98 did NOT have oil burning issues. I had a 98 and it was an excellent car. It had some electrical issues but very few mechanical problems.

I would say that the price is a bit HIGH. There are a LOT of cars out there right now and you should be able to do better on the price.
