I dont think you are going to safely fit a 295 tire on a 9.5 inch factory wheel. It would be fine on a 10.5 inch Z06 wheel, but not a regular C5 wheel.
I cant find anything on a 295/45/18 but I did find a Michelin 295/35/18 and they recommend using it on a 10" to 11.5" wheel.
I'm sure someone has squeezed it onto a 9.5" wheel, but I'm sure its not the best fit.
My rears are 295/35/18 Kumho MX’s on stock chrome wagons. My fronts are 255/40/17 Kumho MX’s. Both fit fine and look saaaawwweeeettt. Very slight bulge, keeps my wife from rashin my chromies.

are you running 45 or 35. got a picture?
reason i want larger tires is i can't get enough traction with stock tires and i believe some of the problem is tire diameter, the other problem is leadfoot.

the problem is the tire compound. a softer tire will hook fine. I have 295 35 18s drag radials and i have ZERO traction sisuse w 4.10s

I believe a larger diameter tire/footprint with harder compound may serve the same purpose as softer rubber, ie tire longevity for the heavy footed. 731 revs per mile compared to 780 with stock size.
maybe at the dragstrip where teh sidewall can absorb some impact but on the street w/ 30+ psi i dont know. if you want traction, you need a softer compound. I can spin runflats in 4 gears on the street, i cant spin 2nd w/ the softer compound tires. The runflats have a taller sidewall as well.

I have friends and family setting up SCCA and ralley race cars for decades to draw experience from. COMPOUND and to a much lesser extent, contact pattern, are your problems. Get some gummies that fit properly.
