Can you clear polished wheels??

Yes, you can clearcoat polished wheels. The Y2K wheels for our cars come from the factory polished with clear on them.
You can use any clearcoat. I personally would suggest a urethane clearcoat. The trick is to clean the wheel really well and leave no polish residue anywhere....

I agree, the wheels can be clearcoated. All factory wheels are done this way. If you don't have the equipment to do it yourself, any body shop should be able to shoot the clear on.
