99 coupe, 123,000, 6sp, selective ride control, 410s and BFG G-Force 295 in the rear. Since i have changed tires from the run-flats, I get wheel hop very bad. Wondering if its time to replace the shocks or if others are experiencing the same thing with this type of tire?
Greetings again! I have BFG G-force on ours, and mildly shot shocks, a potentially poor situation. However, we get no wheel hop, no matter how hard I hit it. Perhaps our A4 is a little bit easier on torque application, but with tractiion control off and a 'hot stomp', the rear just hunkers down, we get some spin, and off we go. With TC on, it is very controled, but still very quick. These tires are VERY STICKY.
I have Bilsteins on the way, Fed Ex says later this week!
PS Thanks again for the tunes....and watch your mail in about a week and half or two.[ weather permitting] We have an Oregon treat on its way to us so we can forward it on to you!
Good luck with the hopping
Jennifer
EDIT: Forgot to mention that I DO think new shocks will help a lot, especialy if the originals are still in place. Corvette Garage, LAPD, and E-Shocks all have the Bilstein Sports for $299.00, a great price.

Reason: added more info
i have a 99 mn6 with 20,000 miles on it and i get wheel hop with the run flats, my shocks are still great i think its the tires for me but in your case i dont know
2003 MN6 39,000 Miles .. i got a really bad wheel hop today. The car decided it wanted to go sideways (even though I didn't presuade it at all ) while I was "merging" into traffic and it was doing good up until around 4,500 then the rears broke loose and she did one wheel hop then i shifted it into second and she did her little shake (car grabs and slingshots the rear to other side of lane) but then we were good to go.
Fiberglass thanks and nice to hear from you again! Looks like its the tires in my case, interesting to hear others experience the same. Did most of you have the ride control option or is that the MN6? I guess im thinking that is the 6-sp code.
Same thing this morning, Some infinity tried to jump out on me so i nailed it to keep up, NOT RACE MIND YOU, forgot to take off TC so he got a little in front of me and it took 4th gear to real him in . the next light TC was off and launched, wheels broke and started to wheel hop so let off and got into again, shifted and same thing, 2nd gear broke tires loose and more wheel hop. In 3rd just got a chirp from the tires and everything was fine. Next car will definitly be a new Z06. Tired of all the performance issues.
