Default Where do you get mod work done?

Learning a lot from the members of the forum. Planning on buying my first C5 this year.

Been reading about all the mods that folks recommend and have a question regarding installation. For those of us who will not do the work ourselves, where do you recommend taking the car?

Do you buy the parts and have someone install for you?

Lastly, any one have any specific places in western suburbs of Chicago that they would recommend?

Thanks

For me it is the driveway or my parent driveway the only mods I had done by someone were the exhaust and sway bars since I did not have access to a floor jack

Many of the Forum Tuners will sell you parts for mods. If you are a good DIY'er this is one way to go.

I live in the DFW area, and use 21st Century MC for all my work. They are a Lingenfelter 'dealer', so the products are first class.

Since you live in Chicago, Lingenfelter in Indiana might be an option for you.

Dyno-Tech Engineering in Ft. Wayne, Indiana has my car right now doing a whole BOATLOAD of engine mods.

Phil and his crew there run a top-notch shop so I can definitely recommend them. They would definitely be worth the drive.

Most of the mods are easily done by novice DIY people, especialy items like Filter's, LS6 Intake swaps, Shifters, Thermostats, Throttlebody Bypass, Throttlebody etc.

My best advice (This has worked great for me) is to attend a few of the local Test "N" Tune nights at the track and talk to people with LS1 powered cars. They will be able to point you in the right direction because they once where stock too.

Remember the 98-02 F-body's are LS1 powered cars also. Anyway one shop I have called and heard good results from is Dyno Tech in Northern Indiana.

I've had my dealer do some things, some local shops do others. Just depends on the item. I've also done some work myself. In all cases, I have bought the item myself and had them install what I could not.
