Ok. My younger brother has an 03 Cobra and got a Blinder M40 laser jammer for it. He lives in Cincinnati and drives to both Columbus and Toledo alot. Anyway he has been nailed by laser over 20 times in the last 6 months (it's the OSHP favorite tool) and has walked away unscathed every time and once he was damn close when he got nailed. the cop pulled him over and advised him to slow down saying he was unable to get an accurate reading with the laser gun but could tell he was traveling at a higher then allowable rate of speed. If it were anyone but my Brother I would be skeptical but in 22 years of his life he has never lied to me.
I have done a fair amount of other research on this damn thing since talking to him and seems like this thing is for real.
Anyway his car has lots of frontal area and he has 3 "jamming units" on the front and 1 on the back the ones on the front are below the front plate and under each headlamp. well I have no front plate and obviously retractable headlamps. I was wondering if anyone on here has one on their Vette. I'd like to know where you placed them and how effective they have been. I'm thinking the obvious spots in the fog lamp recess but since cops aim at the headlights at night I wonder how effective that placement would be.
My 8500 makes most radar obsolete sans the occasional instant on when I'm the first one he shoots but laser is a big problem here (minnesota) and I travel a ton and will be doing the One Lap again this year and traveling at high rates of speed and can't count on having good luck again like in the past.
I have the Passport VR3 Laser Jammer that I installed in my Z06.
I mounted the two front modules behind the screens in the brake cooling ducts. The rear module is mounted right above my license plate. This is a very stealth install. You have to know they are there, and then look real close, to be able to see them on both the front and back of the car. Virtually invisible.
I've only been hit with Laser once and it apparently did exactly as advertised. When it alerted me, I slowed down within the speed limit, turned it off, and didn't get a ticket!
Thanks for the real world info. I don't know if I will use the brake ducts because I actually use them (road race a fair amount) with spindle ducts connected on the other end and the opening is small enough as it is. Also with the vararam going in soon don't know that the fog lamp recess is a great idea either but they don't take up that much room I suppose.....
I have the Blinder as well and have it mounted in the fog light openings. Once you step back 30 feet the laser actually has a direct line of sight. Each unit angles slightly to the outside, directly at the LEO. I have not been pulled over by laser yet.
I'm kinda glad to know that laser jammers actually work once in a while I have the Bell version (rebadged Passport VR3 at a lower price) and I have been putting off installing it since I have a Z06 as well and I'm stumped as the locations for the front transceivers. Wouldn't the screen mesh reduce the effectiveness ?

Awesome thanks. Did you get the M20 or the M40.. I was thinking of getting the M40 and putting two in the fog lamp area like you have and one on top of the "Corvette" plate and one on the back plate. I know you will be able to see the one on the front but I want full effectivness. I have a bad tendancy to settle into triple digits on the highway.
Where are you running into Laser - I've only hit it once in the last year down here?
I live in New Prague but have restaurants all over the twin cities and the State uses it on 494 and 35 all the time. Plus Plymouth has it as does Tonka, EP, Maple Grove, Woodbury etc...I also have a restaurant in Rockford Ill and I don't think the Wisc. state police use anything but laser anymore and they are sneaky bastards.
I also have the Escort laser jammer and I can attest that it works as advertised. 2 things you need to remember. First, the laser jammer does not send the LIDAR gun a false reading or a speed setting, it just makes the gun register blank, but it does notify the officer that you have a jammer. Laser jammers are not illegal in any state of the union. This is because our government does not have a sanctioning body against the use of light. Becareful, after an officer clocks you with a LIDAR gun and your jammer helps you avoid detection, some officers will decide that they can catch you by "pacing". So wait a good distance before you hit resume on the cruise control. Secondly, the saturation of your laser jammer is only good up until about 60 yards. At that point your jammer or at least the Escort jammer is not strong enough or fast enough to send it false signal back to the LIDAR gun. I am sure that distance is not exact and will vary depending on the age of the gun, angle and the aiming point of the beam itself. I highly reccomend these jammers. I would think, with all of the laser terrorist attacks, it is only a matter of time before legislation is past to outlaw these jammers.

Thanks for your insight. In the couple tests I have seen what you say sounds right. the Escort was busted through at 180' but the Blinder stayed true. Not flaming escort in anyway, would actually prefer the escort to mate to my 8500 but the tests on the blinder show no breakthrogh.
Also there is one state where laser jammers are illegal and guess where.......Minnesota. Still going to do it however.
I believe the distinction (one of many) is that the Blinder stays on as long as a laser is targeting you. Others will shut down after a short period leaving you with your family jewels exposed if you don't hear the jammer warning in a timely fashion, ie. roof off and windows down.
They're also illegal in Iowa. Being caught with one, will result in a heafty fine and confiscation of the jamming device.
I think the ones sold are legal and will not be a problem with States that allow radar. It is the Active Jammers that are illegal since they emit frequency that beams back to the radargun. Passive models, like those sold by Escort, K40, etc. do not emit frequency waves.

Escort, Blinder, K40 are active that's why they work.
