No - the 04's have a traditional lead acid Delco, but the posts are on top. The leakers were the side terminal Delcos.
I would still put in an Optima. One thing to mention - the Optima's posts set further back than the Delco's. If you decide to switch, you have to straighten the end of the terminal from it's 90 degree bend to about a 45 degree bend to make it work.

I would still put in an Optima.
The '04s are still lead acid, so if they do leak, the potential is there for it to get down on the wiring under the battery tray.
