I'm new to the forum and currently have a 93 coupe. I keep hearing that C5 owners don't like the C4 and look down at it. I have never found that to be true. I figured this would be the best place to find out
from the C5 owners.

I love every generation because each are the definition of true american muscle. I am partial to the C5, however, because I own one. I would love to see more well kept C4s out on the road. It seems like the C4 is currently the least expensive avenue of owning a vette.
They are the value now, you can buy a late seventies cheaper but those cars are way down on horsepower. Having a dirty beater corvette doesn't make sense to me. I see lots of C4's and C5's treated like a honda accord.

Recently moved from a C4 to C5, had a 92 6spd. I'd have to say the greatest advantage to a C5 is not driving around with my toolbox anymore!! Two totally different experiences - C4 was a great car, just wound up spending tons of money on age related issues.
The C5 is far superior. Interior comfort and fit and finish is much nicer. I never liked the door sill beam on the C4 which makes it difficult to get in and out.
Its a classic in its own right and I don't look down at the C4 but I would prefer a C5 for myself every time.

I had four C4's before I got my C5's and liked each one of them. The C5 is a step above the C4 in many ways, but there is not a thing wrong with having a C4 to drive. The longest I ever kept a car was my '89 C4.
Every generation of Corvette has something to recommend it and each generation has it's foibles which can be expected from any production series vehicle. I think we'd all probably like "one of each" if we had the money and the place to keep them. Look at any Corvette club and you'll see people who just lov'em all and appreciate being around others who feel the same way. I believe the "eliteists" are few and far between. Save the
Went to the GTG at the speedway today...mind you I just popped in to check out everyones rides....In a matter of 15 minutes I had two C5 owners kinda sneer at my C4. It's cryin shame some people have to be this way.....Matter of fact idling through the lot and passed by one Blk C5 doin the same and gave a small wave..he kinda looked at me like I was a kid! We decided to leave.Nice cars but some of these guys need a reality check.Leaves a really poor taste in my mouth.
I break my *** to pay for my toys and have many. This is my first vette go-round but if this is gonna be it then screw it.
Even my girlfriend asked what the attitude was all about with the C5 owners....she has no idea of the drama so I kinda feel I'm not being overly sensitive.

I keep hearing stories like yours and have never had it happen to me,
that's why I posted this. What's wrong with some people ?
I had 2 C4's before getting my 99. I don't look down on any corvette, I love em all and would love to have at least one from each generation. I do think this kind of stuff happens with any group...mines newer or faster or better than yours... I've read several threads about the C6 guys looking down on the C5's now. I'm just glad to be part of the corvette community. Most of us have worked hard to be part of the corvette club and we should all be proud of our brothers and sisters...
I miss my ZR-1...the C4 steering and the way you sit low between the frame makes it a different feel from any other car. Except for the power, my C5 drives alot like any nicer car. Don't get me wrong, the C5 is an awesome car, but it is more tame and doesn't have the quirks that were recognized as being Corvette trademarks before 1997.

I had 3 C4's and loved them all.... my 86 pace car was the longest I ever owned a car at 10 years....and I dont look down at C4 owners. Having said that, I must say that I love my
99 FRC better than ANY Vette Iver ever owned..(see sig)
