They are all Corvettes, I loved my '94 and many times I wish I still had it, it was just different not better just different. I love my '70 just as much as my S/C '00 so I don't think your impression is correct and juding from what I have read here on this thread neither do the majority of the folks here.
I had a 85 C4 Automatic Coupe before my 98 MN6 Coupe. I can say for a FACT that I drove my 85 way more aggressively than my 98! It had a more realistic and difinative feel! You knew when you reached the LIMIT! I love my C5 but really enjoyed my C4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you see me on the road when your driven your C4,, you will get a BIG wave !!!
All Vettes are unique in and of themselves. My 1964 C2 was a kick. just love it. My 1978 was great fun too. I could never see the end of the hood from inside the car. But, the C5 is the best riding best driving car I have ever owned.

Can't believe anyone would pay $20,000 for 95 more horsepower. That's $210.52 per hp. My C5 cost $145.71 per hp. Actually if you divide $70,000 by 500 you get $140 so it's less than what I paid per hp. Still, it's $20,000 more than I paid.

This C5 owner doesn't sneer or look down on C4's (in fact all that I know, don't). I almost bought a C4 as my first Vette, but what I wanted (96 LT4 3x black convertible with low mileage) cost as much as what I bought!
hell before i got a corvette, every vette owner i met seemed to look down on my 97 camaro (which i'd be willing to bet would outrun most vettes on the road). but when i got a corvette, other vette owners wave, as do i. i complimented a vette owner when i had my camaro, and he just sneered at me and walked off. people are weird sometimes.
Drove a C4 once; loved the way it felt more like a true racecar seat or cockpit. You weren't going anywhere! Also, one of the nicest Vettes I see on a regular basis is a beautiful black '95 with bling chrome wheels Sweeeet! All that said, I still love the exotic looking C5 more than any other Vette. That's right, all years!
Just remember, you cant judge everbody (C5 owner) just becasue there are a couple of JERKS out there. I owned my 89 for 11 years before I replaced it with my 98. I think that every year Corvette is great and wish I could have one of every generation. I get plenty of people who dont wave to me, I just think that they dont know about it yet, but I will wave anyway. I hope that you enjoy your Corvette as much as all of us have and remember a C1, C2, C3,C4, C5, and C6 are all Corvette's.

I owned and drove an 88 4+3 xoupe and an A4 96 coupe; both wer great C4s. No knocking the C4 here, loved every mile I put on them; a combined 170 K miles, most ly commuting to and from work. And I also enjoyed the power road trips as well; great and pleasurable experiences. And the C5 that I presently own and drive is find the same kind of place in my memories.
Of the 2 generations I have owned and driven, both have been great, each with it's own special set of quirks and pleasures.
I always wanted a C4 but never could quite afford it with kids growing up. When the C5 arrived, it fixed a lot of the minor gripes I had with the C4. Still took a while to get to the point where I wrote the check. Right now the C6 doesn't float my boat but it's still a Vette.
In Vegas, even C5 owners look down on other C5 owners. Those folks are not Forum members. I always wave, C1 through C6. Look down on another Vette owner? .... never!!!
C4s are cool cars,my only experiance is driving an 85 with the heavy susp.I thought it handled and road fine. a real fun drive.
Looking at a sharp 90s red coup at a car show last summer gave me the bug to buy a "newer" vette.
The wife wanted lower miles and most of the c4s in that group
seemed too high priced.( compared to the dropping c5 prices)
If it wasn't for the wifes high mileage thing I'd probably be driving a 90 yellow conv w. 90k on it.
But we ended up with a 02 z06
It depends on what you mean when you say, "Look down on".
I recognize that the C4, particularly the early ones, had a number of issues. Frankly, some of them were pretty lousy cars. But does that mean I "look down" on fellow Corvette owners? Absolutely not. One would hope that every generation would be better than the one preceding it. That's called progress. Do you look down on mid-year owners? I'd hope not but your car is certainly technologically superior to theirs. That's not "looking down" on anyone. It's just reality.
The C5 is far superior. Interior comfort and fit and finish is much nicer. .....
agree, the only place where i think it took a step backward was in the quality of the leather used on the seats. My C4 seats looked great after many years of use..... C5 seats seem to quickly develop unsightly wear on the drivers seat outboard bolster.
