Back in the olden days of Ford 390's and Dodge 383's and chevy 409's we used to take dads' car out an try backing up at 15-20 mph then dropping the A3 into L now that was smokin' tires.
Hi, Im obviosuly a newb.
I have a quick question, I love corvettes, but I never knew if automatic cars like the C6 or C5 corvettes can burn out? Can they? If so, how?
I mean, when your sitting still in your car, without the car moving an inch and all that white smoke comes up, is that possible on automatic transmission?
Thanks
we have a simple solution for that .. it's called a manual

weird .. my dad's old 396 (w/ 3 on the tree) when placed in 1st, once you hammered it the car wouldn't budge ... it would stay in one place all day long.
hurray for the '67 Chevelle SS 396 (w/ (shaved?) heads, 750cfm carb, P&P, huge **** tires and loads of other nicknacks) ... *sigh* ahh the good ole' days.
I like the information on upgrading the gearing in the A4 to get more break loose power, but I don't want to burn out everytime I take off, I want to plant and roll. I think that I will end up doing a DIFF replacement, but I am not sure what gear to do...3:15 in currently, where to go...that is another post.

Oh, I power brake mine and leave the rubber.
I'm going for 3.73:1, hardened shafts and a mild stall (2400 lockup).
If could do all my mods all over again, I would have done gears and stall first, then blower, shift kit et al after.
