Hi, Im obviosuly a newb.
I have a quick question, I love corvettes, but I never knew if automatic cars like the C6 or C5 corvettes can burn out? Can they? If so, how?
I mean, when your sitting still in your car, without the car moving an inch and all that white smoke comes up, is that possible on automatic transmission?
I had the same question when my 99 vert A4 was stock. I couldn't get it to break loose. The only way I found was to power brake it and then u could do it. Of course you need to leave traction control off.
However, once I changed the stock 2.73 to a 3.42 rear diff and removed the air box cover, she smoked on her own! If you want some good power, the cheapest is to remove the airbox cover (called the ziptie mod). Then plan on changing the rear diff for a very nice response of the vehicle. Turned my car into a much more fun ride after that and well worth the $$.

...Welcome...
the breaking method is necessary for some...
...for others there is no way to avoid breaking loose

Auto... one foot on the brake and one on the gas... pretty simple.
Manual... bring up the revs, let out of the clutch, slip left foot over to brake pedal and hold... sounds more complicated to me.
Interesting word "obviously"
Obviously..you have never had to buy tires..And i dont mean warehouse clearance,or going out of buisness sales,or recaps.
We buy good tires, expensive, but safe and performance rated. Our cars cost a little more than the regular models.
Obviously. You have never lost it showing off,and smashed up the side or rear of your car. Costs lots of money to fix that.
Obviously. trading rubber for smoke is not a wize decision, practically or economically.
BE SAFE>>NOT FOOLISH.. DRIVE RESPONSABLY
ME ?? Burn my Pirellis up and not be moving forward ??NEVER HAPPEN
Back in the "olden days" they called it brake-torquing.
Back in the olden days of Ford 390's and Dodge 383's and chevy 409's we used to take dads' car out an try backing up at 15-20 mph then dropping the A3 into L now that was smokin' tires.
I figure it costs about $5 each time the wheel makes a revolution when you burn rubber like that.
Brand new ET Streets just mounted, first burnout for breakin. M/T says heat them up with a good first burnout. Thank you for your cost analysis, i'll be sure to keep it in mind while doing my next burnout.
