I'm having a host of mods done to my '00 vette by vette doctors (intake, headers, xpipe, cats, ls-1 tune).
I'm considering also asking them to install a B&M shifter.
My question is-- is it worth it? How much of a difference is the shifter?
I ahd on in a pervious car, I liked the way the stick slightly tipped to the left toward the driver. It also made it harder to miss a shift, once you got used to the curve. IMO
Driver keys hole is covered to match the passanger side. I have no pictures just yet of it, and the car is covered and has 5 inchs of snow on the cover. I will take some photos of it soon. It suppose to be 60 degrees here thurday.
Its a world of difference. Its a thing that you do for yourself. I really like my unit, the shifts are crisp and shorter than the factory unit. I will suggest a larger or different shift **** also. After the install I had a slight rattle. It ended being that I could not get the factory **** seated properly.

I have a B&M Ripper in my car. I've driven a car with the stock shifter and the same car with the Hurst shifter. I like the B&M - the shifts are real positive and close. Some folks prefer the Hurst - the effort is slightly less and not quite as "notchy". It's a matter of preference and what you get used to, I guess.
If you switch from stock to a B&M - you'll notice a dramatic difference! worth the effort, IMO. Also - this is a very easy swap that you COULD do yourself.
The shifter is very nice, I have no complaints about mine. You will notice a huge difference over the stock unit.
As mentioned if you have a rattle after install check the stock shift **** or better yet get a hardbar ****.
Oh and the install is a snap. save yourself some dough and do it yourself!!

Ok......obviously it's better than stock. Anybody (who has had both) want to offer an opinion as to how it compares to a stock shifter that has been shortened the maximum amount? I'm ready to cut mine, but if the B&M is still significantly better maybe I should go the route instead???

Ill answer your question... with a shortened stock shifter, you will still have all the slop the old shifter has but it will be harder to shift. The B&M ripper is notchie and precise, there is no slop in the gates. Ive had mine over four years and I still smile with every shift.. It is a precision piece of mechanical design.
I hope this draws the picture.

Actually, I'm thinking of getting through Vette Doctors, and having them do the install. They're going to be installing a complete exhaust system for me...
