Looking at doing a manual swap into my 1980 C3. Looking for a Z06 tranny or an inexpensive T56. Please help having a hard time finding one for under $1200
Thanks for all the help guys. I realized that the Z tranny wouldn't fit after putting exhaust on my buddies and seeing his. I would still like to know but the T56 though. Do you have to hook up the wiring harness or what should I do about that b/c I have no computer to control the tranny. Please help

Reason: Need more help
I hope you realize you'll need a tailshaft for it. The C5 transmissions are in the rear and incorporate the differential as well.
You're best bet may be to get a T-56 from a Camaro or Firebird, as these are in the standard format of the older "engine bolted to transmission" setup, and are set up to support a driveshaft.
C3 and C5 are different animals. Assuming that you can modify an M12 assembly (well you can if you throw enough money at it) why would you? To hack at your C3 when a T56 will do the job nicely does not make sense. Save your time and effort.
