Default Paint Work Question??

If I were to get a hood for my z06, can a good paint shop match the color by just painting the hood or do they have to blend the bumpers in?

It depends what color you have. Typically light, metallic colors are a pita to panel match. What I would suggest is having your painter make a sprayout card and compare it to your existing finish. See if he can tint it to match your expectations. If not, plan on blending your bumper, fenders, and your headlight covers.

My paint shop matched my new hood 100% without ANY blending.

I DEMANDED no blending so they went through 4 paint mixes before they got it just right. Turned out unbelievable.

You didnt mention the colour, if it was anything xcept maybe pewter or the silver I would see if they could panel paint just the hood, you will have to blend with the lighter metallics. Find a painter with some talent, have him do it right the first time. I did a Torch Red high rise hood last summer for a customer, no blending, looks great. Good luck.

Should be a piece of cake. I think I was told that they have 3 different variations of the Torch Red (basically something like light, normal and dark) so one of them should work fine.

As mentioned above, have them do a sprayout card and they can just go from there.

Ah! Torch red. Same color as mine. Any good bodyshop can panel match that color with no probs.
