There was a car at the MidAmerica Motorworks bash that was a C5 but looked retroed back to the 50's (nose & tail). Does anyone know if this was a conversion kit or a custom fabrication?
Ive seen quite a few of those I believe they are a GM special edition. I saw one at a dealer with a GM window sticker on it. All the ones I saw were white with red int. Some like it I really didn't
Advanced Automotive Technologies is proud to announce the limited production of the 1953/2003 Commemorative Edition. Our 1953/2003 Commemorative Edition combines the retro styling of the original 1953 Corvette with the modern power and comforts of todays Corvette.
By blending the classic styling of the 1950’s with performance, comfort, and technology of the 21st century, the 1953-2003 Commemorative Edition offers the best of both eras.
Advanced Automotive Technologies built the original show car and was a major contributor to the design. It is not an officially endorsed vehicle by General Motors.
The vehicle is based on a customer provided Chevrolet Corvette C5 convertible but could also be converted using a Corvette Hardtop (not hatchback). All new body panels are installed using the same attachment locations as production panels. A small recess cut into the rear trunk inner fiberglass to clearance the new deck lid contours is the only modification to production vehicle. There are no structural modifications. All safety related items remain intact.
Production of the 1953-2003 Commemorative Edition has begun, and to date we have delivered 58 vehicles.
More information and pictures are available at www.50thcommemorative.com This is a web site that Chaz Cone, owner of CEC #11 has begun and shows where each vehicle has been shipped and many stories and pictures from each owner.
Hey i have the new C5 book printed in 04 and in the back it talks about and has pictures of it the one they are talking about costs $29,995 plus a donor C5, and is done by hand. The company is advanced automotive technologies, hope that helps, matt. The white car pictured seems to be the same brand, in the book they say that at the time of printing ther were 39 cars made and quility was better then that which rolls out of bowling green, and aat doe not plan on limiting production #s.

Reason: adding info
I'm getting my 01 vert done right now by this company I'm going to have mine painted Regal Turquoise (a 1958 vette color) it costs 45,000 plus you provide the donor car. I own the company that did all the models and molds for this and all the body skins are made from pre-impregnated laminates that are oven cured it's a class act conversion that's done at their facility in Lakewood Wa.
I think you need to be a member of AARP in order to purchase one of the kits
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and I would not turn a beautiful C5 into a poser, but to each his own, for thoses that like it go for it
I suppose if you got hold of a C5 that was totaled, it might be a good way to repair it, but I'd never take a nice C5 and do that to it. But hey! It ain't MY car.
The Retro look is the in thing these days. I think it would be more fun to take a LoneStar '53 or a Corvette Concepts '57 kit car and put C5 running gear under it. And yes, I do belong to AARP.
