i want to paint the caliphers on my 2000 vert. does anyone have a recommendation for the paint, ytpe, ease of application? i will be painting them red with silver letters.
I used the G2 paint system. You can buy at Ecklers. It is a brush on procedure and is fairly easy to do with excellent results. My opinion is you really need to get all four wheels off the ground at the same time so you can do multiple coats to get that nice smooth finish. I have read on this forum about others using regular spray paint.
I just picked up the Duplicolor Caliper Paint Kit at Wal-Mart for $15. Just waiting for a warm enough day to do it. Was hoping today would get into the 60s, but only the low 50s, so will have to wait for another day to do it.

There's been a ton of threads on this topic lately. FWIW, I used the Folia-Tec kit bought at Xtreme Motorsports. It's a 2 part epoxy paint that is designed specifically as a caliper paint. Prep is the key, make sure the caliper are very clean, spray with the supplied brake cleaner, clean again, and blow dry with compressed air.
As far as the letters are concerned, I just painted over them, waited 24 hours until dry and took a brand new utility knife blade to scrape them clean. If you want to use a very fine grit sanding block to finish them off....they'll look great.
I used DupliColor caliper paint, painted them while they were on the car, a couple of coats, used a silver "paint marker" for the lettering and have enjoyed the results.

I used Folia Tec that I got from Xtreme Motorsports. Had it on there for over three years and it is one tough paint (epoxy based). Kind of expensive, but goes on with a brush and dries without leaving any brush marks.

Rustoleum Sunrise Red, paint over the letters, when dry sand off paint using some emery and a small block. I did mine 2 years ago and they still look new.
I used gm torch red touch up paint. If you use it you may want to get 2 cans because it comes in a small spray can. I used a razor blade to get the paint off the letters. Then I sprayed gm clear coat over it. Still looks good after about 3 months.
Rustoleum Sunrise Red - A perfect match for the stock z06 calipers. Get it at Home Depot
For under $4, I can't see why you'd do this any other way. Some people apparently like to spend needless money. Many of us have advised people how to do this job without all these big money "Caliper paint kits"...........
Many of the caliper paint kits claim they use hi temp paint. That's great I guess, BUT you DO NOT need it. Under normal driving conditions your caipers will not get hot, especially to the point where they will affect the Rustoleum paint.
ALSO, the Rustoleum is about $3.49/quart. Enough to paint about 25 sets of C5 calipers. You'll have plenty should you ever bang one taking a wheel off or on. Here is the end result using Rustoleum.
