I just purchased a 2000 Vette with polished wheels. What is the process needed to keep these wheels looking good. I understand they need more care than standard wheels, but I have no clue. I am looking for some good advise. Thanks, Duds
I took a clay bar to the wheels on my 2002 coupe. Really took out the grime that seems to gather in the clearcote of the wheels. Smooth as silk now and look like new. I used the Meguiars clay bar kit. Having done that it is a bit of a ripoff for the small clay bar that they give you. Buy the bars separately and use lots of liquid lubricant.

The polished wheels, if factory, don't take any more care to keep them looking good than the painted ones. Just keep them clean and waxed and you will be OK. They are clearcoated so that helps a lot.
What if they have some deposits built up already on the inside (not on spokes)? What is the proper way to take those off?
After cleaning with soap and water, you can use a clay bar with plenty of the detail spray. I generally don't worry too much about the inner areas, but this is what I'd do if I had the time.

Most of the deposits on the inside,or barrel. of the wheel are "greasy' road grime. You can safely use a rag with kerosene, charcoal lighter fluid or commercial tar remover. Wash off with soapy water, rinse well and apply a coat of car wax.
The wheels on mine looked as if they were never cleaned on the inside. It would be easier to remove them first.
Wash with car wash soap, then Zaino. Between washings when I get back I take a feather duster and knock off what little brake dust is on the wheels. Look good so far.
