ive never autocrossed, very carefull about bumps and potholes,i live in La. ill post pictures of the rim and the car soon. The car i believe is totalled my dash is readjusted, the frame is bent to like less than half an inch, windshield is broken, door is mangled, windshield post is bent, and rocker panels gone. The chp officer wich responded to the scene told me i was lucky i was in a vette, he said every car theyve pulled out of that ditch has been rolled over with the occupants dead or in serious injury.. thanks for your concern guys
That is the fifth time I have read about a wheel failure on a vette, once was on a factory Z06 wheel, and 4 of them with Z06 motorsport wheels. I still think the best bet for strength and looks are the original GM manufactured Y2K thinspokes. Better than the Alcoa's.
just my .02
Saw a RH rear break on a LeMans CE coupe last year. Guy was doing about 30 MPH. I don't know the history of the car though. But, he did hit tree on the RH side when the wheel broke. They were the Factory stock polished thin spokes.
Normally I've seen/heard about this w/ repro chromies. It's happened w/ '02+ Z06 wheels (spun cast vs. forged) I run my CCWs and my '01 Z06 wheels (forged)... check them often! Sorry this happened, now go buy a nice forged wheel and never worry about it again.
